These files constitute the major record series generated by the office of John T. Casteen, president of the University of Virginia since 1990. These papers consist of office administrative files and miscellaneous topical files and chiefly contain correspondence but also include reports, minutes, clippings, memoranda, and related papers concerning all areas of business of the president's office. Major topics include the Alumni Association, the American Council on Education, the Association of American Universities, athletics, the Board of Visitors, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, development and finance, the governor's office, the Mariner's Museum, the Medical Center, Sallie Mae, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, and student affairs.
